Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
Dogs act aggressively and chase for different reasons. Some dogs are expressing predation. Predation is an eye, stalk, chase, kill sequence that is a genetically encoded instinct. Some are guarding their resources/territory. Sound Defense products use new technology to send an audible signal in dogs’ sensitive hearing range that’s designed to be an alarming, intimidating and overwhelming warning signal for the dog.
What type of battery is required?
A 9 Volt battery is required and the K9 Warning Device is sold with the battery included.
Is the Sound Defense K9 Warning Device a training aid?
Passive dogs may not exhibit a strong response. The K9 Warning Device is not intended to get a reaction from a passive or resting dog and there is no reason for it to do so. The device is meant to deter aggressive behavior in dogs – it is not for training.
Does the canine warning device work on all dogs?
The device will not be effective on all dogs. No deterrent is 100% effective.
Does the device work in cold and hot weather?
Yes, in general, temperature should not have an effect on the K9 Warning Device.
Does it come with a pocket clip and can I move the pocket clip so that it hangs on either pocket?
Yes, simply unscrew the battery cover/pocket clip, move the pocket clip to the other side and refasten.
How long does the battery last?
Testing indicates that battery life is 60 minutes of continuous use. Normal use time is 2-15 seconds.
